I,ve got an idea for a new feature of WindowBlinds. What about an automatic wallpaper changer with fade in and out effects (or other effects). Every ten seconds, minute or any other interval a new wallpaper!!!! Mac OSX has one....there is no good alternative for Windows....and there is already a new feauture in WindowBlinds to change wallpapers.
Hope Stardock thinks it's a good idea too.....
Reactions are welcome!!!

Yeah, I think it's a good idea....an auto wall changer that can be timed to suit personal preferences would be great....
Another feature that'd be good is the ability to add only the walls from the library you want to be auto changed....similar to how LogonStudio allows you to add which logons you want to start randomly at startup.
If the WB developers could do this it would be great and give us even more control in customising our desktops.

Not a bad idea for a separate program, but I don't see why this would be included in WB. Yes, it already has wallpaper support, but there's a big difference between assigning a wallpaper to a theme and a full featured wallpaper changer with special effects.

There's already free software out there that does exactly what was requested: Webshots. It has many different effects, you can either use stock images they provide to free customers, premium images for paid subscribers, and you can add your own images to the mix. It can be timed to change at different intervals or only when you decide to do it. For a freebie program that isn't packaged with any snoop/spy/advertizement ware it's pretty nice. I'm a paid subscriber and the images that are in the gallery are sometimes just breathtaking. www.webshots.com Info and program download can be found here.

I suppose the idea, appeal of it would be to have one wallpaper handler, rather than having to install separate programs to cylce them. It would result in fewer registry entries, which is better for system performance, etc...and it keeps related desktop customisation handy in the one user interface.

I had Webshots installed at one stage and was quite impressed with the content, excellent walls it provided: however, I had the need to do a clean install of XP and never got around to putting it back on (other priorities came up)....
Me thinks I shall go back there and get it again....ta muchly for jogging my memory.

Oh...with webshot you can not change the wallpaper every 10 seconds and it has no fade in and out effects....only the sreensaver has this function but that is not what i mean...

Apart from webshots there's also this one,i have no idea wot it's like as i use webshots http://www.irfanview.com/ or i just remembered scroll down this websites main page to freshview - http://www.freshdevices.com/freshview.html,
the only reason for signup with freshdevices is to notify you of updates they will not spam you etc, both wares are free of charge

Thanks for all the tips..but it's not where I'm looking for....I want exactly the same function as the Apple OS. I have also serached the net but did not found a program which has a certain quality....so i thought it's a good idea for WB5.
Webshots, Freshdevices en Infraview are mediamanager....so if anyone has a good program....i don't mind paying for it....

I prefer Quickchanger

. Timed change interval. Hotkeys to pause interval switching. Nifty scrollable preview window. Skinnable!

Looks like none of these super-duper changers support dual monitors. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
To get back to the original topic, you'd probably need active desktop to achieve what you want, and I believe that conflicts with DesktopX and perhaps IconPackager and others, so I wouldn't expect Stardock to come out with that anytime soon.
Or if not active desktop, some type of video overlay, which would be a huge resource hit for most computers.
Maybe Vista will be different.
